Carbon dioxide bioconversion into single cell oils (lipids) in two reactors inoculated with Acetobacterium woodii and Rhodosporidium toruloides

چکیده
Acetobacterium woodii was able to produce high concentrations of acetic acid, i.e., > 20 g/L, from CO2, in the presence H2 as an energy source, which favoured by maintaining a near-optimal pH 7.8 automated bioreactor. This allows mitigation CO2 emissions for their conversion then further used lipids (single cell oils) Rhodosporidium toruloides next assay. The yeast, grown on efficiently accumulated A. woodii’s medium, and improved bioconversion would result highly promising process. Acetic acid inhibitory studies performed with R. toruloides, at different initial using fermented broth showed that yeast maintained constant growth rate substrate consumption up 15 g/L. Both rates remained roughly higher concentrations; except more extended lag phase observed batch assays before entered its exponential phase.

CO Metabolism in the Acetogen Acetobacterium woodii.
The Wood-Ljungdahl pathway allows acetogenic bacteria to grow on a number of one-carbon substrates, such as carbon dioxide, formate, methyl groups, or even carbon monoxide. Since carbon monoxide alone or in combination with hydrogen and carbon dioxide (synthesis gas) is an increasingly important feedstock for third-generation biotechnology, we studied CO metabolism in the model acetogen Acetoba...
متن کاملChemicals from CO2: Hydrogenotrophic production of acetate with Acetobacterium woodii
The formation of acetate by Acetobacterium woodii was studied systematically in batch-operated stirred-tank reactors at different hydrogen and carbon dioxide partial pressures in the gas phase. 48 parallel stirred-tank reactors on a millilitre-scale as well as stirred-tank reactors on a litre-scale were applied for the detailed reaction engineering analysis of hydrogenotrophic acetate formation...
متن کاملConcomitant Production of Lipids and Carotenoids in Rhodosporidium toruloides under Osmotic Stress Using Response Surface Methodology
As a replacement to existing fossil fuels, biofuels, have proven their worth; however, their widespread use is limited due to inconsistent yields, higher costs and poor productivity. An oleaginous yeast, Rhodosporidium toruloides has been reported to accumulate substantial amounts of lipids (that can be converted to biofuels) and therefore, it was selected for study and optimization. Apart from...
متن کاملPurification and characterization of a cephalosporin esterase from Rhodosporidium toruloides.
A novel cephalosporin esterase (EC 3.1.1.41) from Rhodosporidium toruloides was purified to gel electrophoretic homogeneity. The enzyme is a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 80 kDa. Upon deglycosylation, several forms of the enzyme were observed with a molecular mass range between 60 and 66 kDa. The isoelectric point of the enzyme is approximately 5.6, with the pH optimum for activity occu...
متن کاملCarbonic anhydrase in Acetobacterium woodii and other acetogenic bacteria.
Acetobacterium woodii, Acetohalobium arabaticum, Clostridium formicoaceticum, and Sporomusa silvacetica were found to contain carbonic anhydrase (CA). Minimal to no CA activity was detected in Moorella thermoautotrophica, Moorella thermoacetica subsp. "pratumsolum," Sporomusa termitida, and Thermoanaerobacter kivui. Of the acetogens tested, A. woodii had the highest CA specific activity, approx...
